The Fondazione Gianfranco Fedrigoni – Fabriano. Storia, scienza e arte della carta foundation (in short, Fondazione Fedrigoni Fabriano) with its head-office in Fabriano on the evocative premises of the historic building complex of the paper-mill Cartiere Miliani, has been entrusted by Fedrigoni SpA, with the task of conserving and enhancing the historic paper heritage that was inherited by Cartiere Miliani Fabriano.

Measuring over 500 linear metres of archive and library assets dating back to 1782, which belong to the Archives of Cartiere Miliani Fabriano – the first ever “enterprise archive” in Italy declared to be of “significant historic importance” through a binding provision released on 20 July 1964 – and 2.000 m2 of Historic Paper Heritage (BSC), 10,000 tools implemented in the manufacturing of hand-and- machine made  paper commissioned by the national and international banks and domestic historic ‘Made in Italy’ brands (like FIAT, Liquore Strega, Fernet Branca, Stabilimento Ricordi, etc.). A heritage of inestimable worth, unique in the world, declared to be of “cultural importance” (art. 15, p. 1 of Legislative Decree 42/2004) by the Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities and Tourism (MIBACT) on 30 May 2018.

A primary source not only for the history of national and international paper but also for the history of paper technology and science, the history of paper industry, the economic history, the art of typography, book-printing as far as bibliography.
